THE BOOGIE BEACH STORY
Boogie Beach has been an environmentally friendly company from its beginnings in 1984. Eddy Berthelette, Boogie Beach’s talented founder, saw the potential of precious burlwood and scoured the beaches for the beautifully grained timbers. In the past he was able to salvage the burls from the Pacific Northwest coastline but as time went on, there were very few to be found. Jason Pelletier, sole owner of Boogie Beach, continues in the tradition of his Uncle Eddy by purchasing burls from collectors who had the foresight to realize how rare and unique the reclaimed timbers were, with some being up to 300 years old.
Uncle Eddy’s excellent original designs are still apparent today in the new generation of high quality Boogie Beach designs. Today, master craftsman Jason Pelletier leads the Boogie Beach team of artists. Each unique finished piece is crafted from a solid piece of wood, retaining much of the natural form of the burl. Some pieces have polished surfaces, others have rustic edges and many share both characteristics. Each creation is truly one-of-a-kind!
